For many months, the generative art community has been demanding a platform that provides greater opportunities for artists, their discoverability and greater control over the art they produce.
Introducing Eclipse — an open, community-driven platform that supports the unique needs of the generative art ecosystem. Eclipse aims to provide artists with all of the tools they need to create, sell, manage and own their collections.
Eclipse.art is a sub-brand of a curated generative art platform — GEN.ART. It offers a number of key differences that set it apart. Unlike GEN.ART, where artists are selected and curated, Eclipse.art provides a self-custody solution for artists to deploy and manage their NFT collections on their own. The platform runs on Ethereum as the frontier chain and compiles on Ethereum Virtual Machines (EVMs).
In this brief post, we’d like to tease you with some of the features we’re developing and what benefits we intend to bring to the genart ecosystem.
Let’s start.
TLDR;
Open generative art platform on Ethereum
Scalable to other EVMs (AVAX, OP, Polygon)
Integrated marketplace
A self-custody solution to launch generative art collections
Gives full contract ownership and control over royalties
Various drop mechanics including public mint, token gated mint, whitelist mint, airdrops and more
Open-source and developer-friendly
Flexibility for artists
Eclipse.art is designed to provide a complete solution for generative artists, where they can showcase and sell their works without any intermediaries and curation.
With complete contract ownership and self-custody, artists have full control over their collections and can launch them independently. They are offered the flexibility to choose from various contract implementations, drop mechanics and media types. Additionally, artists can choose a chain to deploy their contract – Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche and other L2s will be available from one single UI.
One of the unique features of Eclipse.art is the ability for artists to host their own mint pages using the platform's developer framework. This gives them full control over the presentation and mint experience of their collections. The framework provides the tools and resources necessary for artists to create and launch custom mint pages with unique designs and interactive features. This is a fantastic opportunity for artists to showcase their work, reach new audiences, and provide collectors with a one-of-a-kind experience.
Eclipse.art also ensures that artists retain full ownership of their smart contracts and control over the royalties from their collections.
Collectors and community
Eclipse.art serves as a centralized hub and a marketplace for all generative art collections released on the platform, making it easier for collectors to discover collections and artists. With a wide range of generative art in one place, collectors will no longer have to search across multiple platforms to find the collections they're interested in.
Eclipse.art provides collectors with confidence in the future of generative art, technology, and a large and thriving genart community.
Eclipse.art will feature personal profiles for both collectors and artists, allowing them to connect, follow each other, and stay up to date. The profiles will serve as a platform for artists to showcase their collections and for collectors to display their interests and acquisitions.
Tech
Eclipse.art is part of the GEN.ART ecosystem and shares the same tech stack and underlying server infrastructure. The contracts are open-source and have been battle-tested numerous times.
In addition to multiple drop mechanics like the dutch auction and flat-price sales, artists will be able to create airdrops, token-gated mints and many more features that will be developed in the future.
The platform hosts the images and metadata API and provides the infrastructure to generate them. The scripts to generate the images are stored on-chain and pinned on IPFS. This ensures that the art and metadata are always accessible, secure and immutable.
The mainnet launch is scheduled for early March, with testnet and alpha launches happening beforehand. By the end of March, the platform will be rolled out on AVAX, Polygon, and other L2s.
Eclipse.art aims to lead innovation and experimentation in the generative art space. As a part of the GEN.ART brand, revenues generated from Eclipse will also help grow the GEN.ART ecosystem and community.
We invite all artists to join us on this exciting journey and be a part of the genesis launch! To apply, fill out the form on the main page at
